What is Committee?

Each local area has a committee of adults who believes in the mission of Young Life: to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and to help them grow in their faith. You'll find adults from all different backgrounds, careers and churches, including lots of moms and dads who care about kids. The committee, comprised of parents, Young Life alumni and civic leaders, provides a foundation of financial, administrative and moral support for the local Young Life team. Ask your area staff person for a local list, and feel free to call these folks with your questions at any time.

Who is Our Committee?

 An Essential Foundation
Committee is the foundation for Young Life in a local area. Oftentimes, new Young Life clubs start because of the interest and awareness created by the committee. We also welcome the involvement of adult Young Life alumni, whose enthusiasm about their Young Life experiences is valuable to a committee.

Incline Committee Chair: Tim Racich. Tim and his family have lived in the Incline Village area for the past 5 years. He has been married for 16 years to his loving wife Holly - they have 5 children, ranging in ages from 7-15. He is President and CEO of Sage Equity, a real estate portfolio company. His love for youth, alongside his business and management skills have been a tremendous asset to our committee. Tim’s memories of Young Life go back to his High school years in our neighboring town of Tahoe City. It was there that Tim grew deeper with Jesus and decided to let Jesus impact every area of his life.

Truckee Committee Chair: Sarah Purgason. Sarah and her family have lived in Truckee for seven years. She and her husband Christian have been married for 18 years and have two sons, ages 10.5 and 9. Sarah is a stay at home mom who is an active volunteer at her boy's school, Truckee Little League, and Young Life Tahoe-Truckee. Sarah has been involved in Young Life since she was in high school in North Carolina. She has been involved as a club kid, volunteer leader, support staff, as an Area Director, as a financial donor and she has been serving on the Young Life support committee in Truckee for the last several years. She hopes that her 25 years of involvement in Young Life and the passion she has for young folks will aid the committee in supporting and growing the mission in all of North Lake Tahoe.

Incline Fundraising Chair: Rick Conway. Rick and his wife Lynne move to Incline Village from the San Francisco Bay Area five years ago. They have five boys ages 18 to 27 years old. Communications Chair: Todd Scimmelpfennig. Born in Truckee and raised in Tahoe City, Todd is passionate about serving Jesus Christ and this community.  A recent move back to the area with his loving wife Marci and two nine year old twin daughters Hana and Maia, has proven to be a refreshing change in lifestyle and a welcome rekindling of fond relationships. Working in Real Estate Acquisitions as President and CEO of Emerald Bay Capital, Inc. bringing to us organizational and operational skills.  Young Life came into his life in High School and “showed me the life giving grace and mercy of Jesus at a time when my family life was crumbling around me with the divorce of my parents after 17 years of marriage.” He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Orange County CBMC (Christian Business Men’s Connection) and hopes that the two will benefit each other for the Kingdom.

Incline Leader Care Chair: Sheri Marshall. Sheri has lived in the Incline-Truckee area for 16 years. She and her husband Kevin have been married for 18 years and have two children, ages 11 and 9. She is a stay at home mom who is very involved in her children’s school and community. Sheri was introduced to Jesus in High School through a caring adult who came alongside her and invested time in her. That adult happened to be part of Young Life. She then grew in her faith because of Young Life, went on to Bible College so she could better serve as a Young Life leader, married a Young Life Director, and continues to be involved in multiple Young Life areas supporting their outreach and discipleship programs. She hopes that her Young life background, her passion to see kids loved, find purpose, and worth alongside her organizational skills will benefit Tahoe-Truckee’s youth.

Incline Outreach Support Co-Chair: Holly Racich. Holly and her family have lived in the Incline Village-Tahoe area for the past 5 years. She and her fun-loving husband Tim have been married for 16 years - they have 5 children, ranging in ages from 7-15. Maybe its because she has 5 kids in 4 of the local schools or maybe it’s because she cares about others so deeply, but everyone in town knows Holly and Holly knows everyone. She comes alongside families and loves them where they are, as they are. Holly was an active participant in Young Life throughout High School, and a volunteer leader in Alamo and Danville, CA. Her fun-loving spirit, wisdom, and heart for others are a tremendous asset to our committee.

Incline Outreach Co-Chair: Tim Kelly. TK is an Incline Village native. After High School he went onto Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma WA and returned with his family three years ago. He and his wife Maureen have been married five years  and have three children ages 4,2 and a newborn daughter. Tim's heart for the youth brought him to the local Catholic Church to serve as youth pastor for a time and then to go on to coach basketball locally, for kids of all ages. His love for Jesus, dynamic personality, and desire to know every kid in town delivered him a well respected reputation amongst teens and their families. We are honored to have TK, his gifts and passion, on our committee.
